Waterform have recently completed an ultraBiox™ tank-based biological wastewater treatment plant for a protein recovery facility, as part of a $100M industrial development.

This is one of the world’s most advanced greenfield rendering sites.

The wastewater treatment plant utilises the latest IFAS technology to achieve stringent nutrient discharge limits with a minimal footprint.

The benefits of IFAS technology include:

• Reduced footprint compared to traditional wastewater solutions used in the red meat industry (open / covered lagoons

• High-rate continuous wastewater technology (i.e. key advantage compared to SBR technology)

• Nutrient reduction performance and ability to meet tight requirements

• More resilient to variations in wastewater loads and biological shock events

• Improved odour performance due to low retention time and exposure to atmosphere
